The humans' inexperience at space warfare made them more predictable than their usual enemies.Įxedore suggests to Breetai that the Zentraedi forces should hit harder to get a response out of the SDF-1.Įxedore increasingly noticed the problems caused by Zentraedi exposure to Micronian culture. He had the unenviable task of trying to outthink the humans. Ah well, to each his own.Exedore served as Breetai's Domillan (advisor) during their mission to retrieve the SDF-1. I'm just not seeing how it being a sub would make SDF all that much better, as only half of the problems with the characters were voice based. Robotech: Macross is a better experience than Super Dimensional Fortress Macross in my opinion. Granted shoehorning the robotech story on to macross didn't work as well macross's own story works with itself, but it wasn't nearly as bad as during mospedia and southern cross. People keep saying how much better the music was in SDF, but with the exception of minmei's songs, I preferred the Robotech stuff. So that goes 11-4 Robotech, mostly because the voice acting was so superior in Robotech. SDF has a picturebook of Minmei doing funny poses. RT is a minor redo of the opening credits. Genius was suave and lady killer, and Kakezaki was actually rather reasonable. Sterling was awe shucks nice, and Ben was loud and boisterous. Just because she's got the accent doesn't mean her delivery has to be so flat. She gets mad, lonely, happy, gushing, bubbly, sad. RT Minmei's voice was a cutesy earworm that got old over time, but when at least you can hear her moods when she's talking. Not too many lines here, but RT's banter seemed slightly less mindless, so Global sounds like an obnoxious blowhard no better than the other annoying upper level officers we meet later in the series. Gloval's russian accent and deep voice makes us believe he's as wise as his decisions. When they call her an older woman, it really just sounds like they're being mean. Misa Hayasei is just the top of her class, one minor step up from the rest of the bridge crew. She's a cougar we'd all like to give us a scratch. SDF's Roy is an obnoxious drunken blowhard who we feel sorry for Claudia for getting involved. Claudia's a lucky girl to have him as a boyfriend. Rick Hunter vs Hiroku Ichigo: Rick Hunter is a whiner. The bad guys lack it, we got it, it makes people not want to fight as much. Protoculture in SDF make sense: pop culture, music, etc. The Narrator frequently spouts nonsense or scientific blabber when trying to stitch this series with the next. Every time it's mentioned, it doesn't make sense. Protoculture in Robotech is a rapidly dwindling power source that the crashed ship had the last renewable bits of. It gets much better in the second half of the series in SDF though, but to me, RT villain music beats out SDF villain music every time. In SDF, the music frequently feels wrong for the situation. In RT, every character group and plotline has a theme. Robotech has a positive martial theme that rolls well with all the visuals of war machines. Those who like the sub over the dub have nothing to fear, this is battle between english versions. I'll put down my opinions once I've finished SDF. Max Sterling and Ben stone vs Max Genius and Hiyo Kakazaki: So, without further ado, What are your picks and why? This is your opinion on a head to head quality comparison, a la Nostolgia Critic's Old vs New comparisons on between Robotech: Macross, and Dubbed Super Dimentional Fortress Macross. Super Dimensional Fortress Macross DUB is now available on Hulu.
